Frequently Asked Questions

Who are you?

Time For You is the UK's premier domestic cleaning service company who clean and care for 45,000 homes across the UK every week.

We strongly believe in the Time For You philosophy that 'life is too short to spend it cleaning' and we are dedicated in providing the very best service to both our clients and cleaners.

I have a large four bed house and three bathrooms, but only want a cleaner for a couple of hours each week to do certain parts of my home only, is this ok?

We completely understand that you might want a cleaner to come in for just a few hours each week to help with some areas only, even if you have a very large home. This is no problem, things have changed so much over the last few years and we will do whatever we can to help. Simply let us know before we visit your home so we can discuss exactly what you are looking for in the time required.

It is extremely hard to find and keep a good reliable cleaner. What do you do differently?

We are continuously looking for excellent cleaners for our clients.

We do an initial interview over the phone. Successful applicants are then visited in their own homes by us, where they face a second, more in-depth interview and vetting procedure under strict Time For You guidelines. At this stage we get to know potential cleaners personally, their skills, qualities, how they clean their own home and the standards they live by. In this face to face interview, we go through their experience, require a minimum of two quality references and do all security checks. Only when, and if, we are fully confident and satisfied that we would have the applicant clean and care for our own home, do we add them to our database.

Finding and retaining good, honest and dependable domestic cleaners is core to our client satisfaction.

We are always available for any concern or question you may have and look after your cleaner - so you don't have to. Time For You not only gives you some of your precious time back, but also the reassurance in knowing that someone is always here for you, working in the background, making sure things run smoothly. We strongly believe that this is the difference that Time For You can bring to your home.

Am I employing the Cleaner?

No, the cleaner is self-employed and fully responsible for their own income tax and national insurance.

How do I pay the Cleaner?

Cleaners are paid each time they clean, by cash or bank transfer which will be agreed with the cleaner when you meet them.

Do I get to meet my cleaner before they start?

Often your cleaner will usually prefer to meet and do your first clean straight away. You can discuss your cleaning requirements, they can answer any questions you may have and you can show them where everything is before they complete the clean. Just let us know when we visit if you would prefer to meet them before the day of the clean.

What tasks will the cleaner actually do for me?

Most jobs will involve general household cleaning tasks such as dusting, vacuuming, mopping the floors, cleaning the kitchen and bathroom. Sometimes, just a little help with tidying or other things that have got harder over the years. You can prioritise, alternate or rotate tasks, whatever it takes to meet your requirements in the time given. If you need more or less hours, simply give us a call.

Will I have the same cleaner each week?

Absolutely! We will introduce you to a cleaner that works for you each and every week. This allows you to build up trust and a good relationship with your home cleaner and ensures that they work more efficiently week by week, rotate tasks within your home and can work under their own initiative if you would like them to.

Are my cleans insured against accidental damage?

We are insured for up to £2 million pounds against the cleaner accidentally damaging your property. Please note that in order to keep our pricing competitive, we do have an excess of £100 on our insurance which means that Time For You are not liable for the first £100 of any insurance claim or will be able to process claims under the value of £100. The insurance is primarily there for more expensive damage, accidently  caused during the clean. Please also be advised that the insurance is not a ‘new for old’ policy. Should your cleaner accidentally break something and you wish us to check regarding an insurance claim, please just email or call us and we will look into this for you.

What about pets?

No problem, we always ask each cleaner if they are happy to work in homes with various pets and know which ones they like!

Who supplies the cleaning products?

In line with our insurance and to keep costs down, your cleaner will use your cleaning products, including vacuum, spray bottles, mops and cloths. This way, you will have the same familiar smells and know that your cleaner is using any sensitive or eco products that you and your family are used too. Most importantly, this prevents any cross contamination issues between different addresses your cleaner operates within. We politely ask if you could supply your cleaner with a long handled duster for those higher up jobs around your home.

Can the cleaner come in for just one hour a day?

Unfortunately, as they have to travel to and from your home for each clean, any money they earn would be swallowed up in travel expenses if they done just a one hour clean. That is why we have a minimum of two hours per visit and appreciate your understanding on this.

Can my cleaner be a key holder?

When you provide access to your property, you may choose to give a spare key to your cleaner. Ideally, you may have a key safe discreetly placed on your property to which you can give the cleaner an access code.

What if I am not happy with the cleaner or the quality of the cleaning?

We will contact you after the first few cleans to see if everything is up to your expectations.

In the unlikely event that you are not fully satisfied, we will usually be able to resolve this with feedback to your cleaner as long as you are happy with this course of action. If you decide that you would prefer to be introduced to a new cleaner, that’s no problem. We are always working in the background, making sure things run smoothly. If you are not happy with something or if there is anything we can do to help, just let us know.

How soon can you find me a cleaner?

It is increasingly hard to find and retain, good, reliable cleaners as people’s lives are changing on a daily basis. We endeavour to introduce a cleaner and get them started within a week or so of meeting you, but this can depend to a great extent as to where you live, what you need doing and how many hours you require. If we already have the ideal cleaner, with the hours available, we could introduce them almost straight away. The most important thing is finding the right cleaner for you. Whatever the situation, we will keep you informed at all times.

ABOUT NORWICH

Norwich is the UK's most complete and best-preserved medieval city with historic cobbled streets, ancient city walls and the majestic Norman Castle and Cathedral. Norwich was once, one of the largest towns in England. Like any great city, its centre is easy to walk around and has a river at its heart. It is the only English city in a National Park - the Norfolk Broads.

Across the city you'll find fascinating old pubs, modern bars and eating establishments to cater for all tastes and pockets, an intricate network of winding streets and over 1,500 historic buildings. Norwich has a wonderful fusion of the modern and historic, one complementing the other. Museums, galleries, theatres, concerts, cinema, a buzzing nightlife and a year round programme of festivals, celebrating everything from music and literature to food and beer. Norwich is also a shopper's paradise with two shopping centres, several department stores and many independent stores and boutiques. It is rated in the Top 10 UK shopping destinations.

Open six days a week, the city has the largest, permanent undercover market in Europe. A vibrant riot of colour and commotion that's surrounded by some of the city’s great historic buildings including the flint 15th century Guildhall. Underneath the rainbow-coloured roofs you will find stalls selling everything imaginable.

Norwich Castle was designed to be a royal palace rather than a fortification. However, no Norman kings ever lived in it. The only time Henry l is known to have stayed at Norwich Castle was for Christmas 1121, a visit explored in detail in the displays in the Castle keep. Norwich Castle keep was built using limestone shipped from Caen in France at a cost of over three times the original value of the stone.

Norwich Cathedral is one of the city’s iconic buildings, dominating the skyline with a 315ft spire that is second in height only to Salisbury. Edith Cavell, a nurse from nearby Swardeston who was shot by the Germans during the First World War for helping allied prisoners escape from Brussels is buried inside the Cathedral precinct. The Cathedral has the largest collection of medieval roof bosses of any Cathedral in the Christian world - more than 1000! Also possibly one of the greatest collections of Bible stories in stone.

The Forum is the home of the Norfolk and Norwich Millennium Library, Norwich Tourist Information Centre  and BBC East. There are 1,235 panes of glass in the building or 18,000 square metres - that's equivalent to 3.5 football pitches. The Forum’s glass facade is 15 meters or five storeys high.

Colman’s Mustard has produced eye-wateringly good mustard since 1814. Jeremiah James Colman established the production factory in Norwich which is still going strong today.

Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson, Norfolk’s most famous son, was educated at the Norwich school within the precincts of the cathedral and is famous for his participation in the Napoleonic wars and most notably in The Battle of Trafalgar.

Alan Partridge is played by actor Steve Coogan who portrays an inept broadcaster whose sense of celebrity drives him to shameless self-promotion. The radio station he works for in the show is Radio Norwich!

Delia Smith, primarily known for her cookery skills, is a joint majority shareholder for Norwich City F.C. Her partner in the shareholding is her husband, Michael Wynn-Jones.

Hugh Jackman is a big Norwich City supporter. His mother lives in Norfolk and is a self-proclaimed Canaries supporter. Following in her footsteps, Hugh was given the opportunity to invest in the club but turned down the offer.
